DEFINITIONS FOR INTERPRETING KRS 211.285.
RELATES TO: KRS CHAPTER 211
NECESSITY, FUNCTION AND CONFORMITY: KRS 211.285 (8)
refers to high schools "registered with" the Department of
Education of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and to "Project
Graduation" events. These terms are not otherwise defined in
the Kentucky Revised Statutes or Kentucky Administrative
Regulations, these definitions are approved by the Board of
Directors of the Malt Beverage Education Corporation in
order to define these terms for the purpose of interpreting
KRS 211.285.
Section 1. Definitions.
- "Registered with the Department of Education" means
that a high school is certified with the Department of
Education. Any Kentucky "common school" (as defined by
KRS 158.030 (1) or private or parochial school which was
certified by the Kentucky Department of Education is
deemed "registered" for the purposes of interpreting KRS
211.285. To be certified by the Kentucky Board of
Education, a parochial or private school must have been
accredited by a national or regional accrediting agency
approved by the Kentucky Board of Education and/or the
Kentucky Non-Public School Commission (e.g., the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) or be
recommended for independent accreditation by the
Kentucky Non-Public School Commission after completing a
self-study accreditation process conducted by the
Non-Public School Commission based on standards approved
by the Kentucky Board of Education. When the Kentucky
Non-Public School Commission has favorably recommended a
school to the Kentucky Board of Education and the
Kentucky Board of Education has approved that
recommendation, the school is certified and "registered"
for the purposes of KRS 211.285
- "Project Graduation" events must meet the criteria
approved by the majority of the Malt Beverage Education
Corporation Board of Directors in order to be approved
for funding pursuant to KRS 211.285 (8).
